Scandinavian Micro Biodevices (SMB) has more than 14 years’ experience in development and commercial production of polymer Lab-on-a Chip cartridges and table-top/handheld instruments. As such the company is one of the leading in the world with competence encompassing fluidic design, biochemistry, instrument de-sign, instrument production, software, cartridge production, production capability and quality insurance. The company has more than 5.000 instruments placed at customers in Europe, North America, Middle East, Aus-tralia, New Zealand, etc. and produces +300.000 single use cartridges per year. The company has a proven development track record within the diagnostic field with more than 20 development projects for exter-nal/internal customers successfully completed over the years.
As WP leader for WP 2 (System specification & requirements), the company is ideally suited to ensure a stringent commercial focus for the end results, while at the same time allowing for enough scientific room to explore different options to reach the intended target. SMB will also be ideally positioned to contribute to the work in WP 7, 8 and 9 with its strong design, prototyping and production capabilities.
