Objectives of Smartdiagnos

Further development and performance testing  in clinical settings of equipment for:

• Sample concentration: Concentration of pathogens from 5-10 ml blood sample to 10-20µl test material
•  Improve sensitivity/detection limit by a factor 10-100 by new detection methods
• Improve specificity to 99%
• Improved stratification by new detection targets: Ability to distinguish sepsis from non-infectious SIRS
• Fast detection of pathogens causing sepsis and their AMR profile: Reduce time to result from today’s 43-68 hrs to 1-3 hrs

• Development and successful performance testing of a prototype LAB system for diagnostic of sepsis in hospital lab settings
• Development and successful performance testing of a prototype POC system for diagnostic of sepsis in hospital ICU settings
• Preparation for commercial exploitation: Business plans for commercialisations.

• Contribution to the sustainability of health care systems: Compare potential societal benefits to social costs
• Disseminating the results of the project to health professionals, decision makers and the general public: 4 training courses for end-users, 4 newsletters, 15 scientific publications and 20 conference presentations.
